I’m a safety-net physician and informaticist, building governance practices and technologies that increase our collective agency and improve our public health.
Much of my current work has focused on interrogating the political economy of healthcare, as well as the governance of technologies from data ecosystems to algorithmic systems to build a healthier society. My experience spans over 15 years across academic, regulatory, entrepreneurial, and operational contexts. I have designed and implemented health system reforms domestically and abroad, advised a number of startups, and worked extensively in legislative and regulatory reform on a county, state, and federal level.
I completed my clinical training at Highland Hospital in Alameda Health System, Oakland's safety net system, during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. After working on enterprise-wide Clinical Informatics operations at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL, I am now working as a Hospitalist and Clinical Informatics Lead at Kings County Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, one of the largest health systems supporting the NYC Health and Hospitals safety net.
I am currently an advisory board member on Artificial Intelligence for The California Telehealth Resource Center, member of the GETTING-Plurality Research Network, and appointee to NYC Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani's Transition Team for Government Operations. Previously, I led the Data Modernization Strategy for the Illinois Department for Public Health under IL State Board of Health member Dr. Abel Kho and IDPH Chief Data and Informatics Officer Dejan Jovanov.
Before then, I did my MPH in Health Policy and Management at Harvard, during which my practicum advisor was Dr. John Halamka. At that time, I also served as an advisor to a collaborative course between the MIT Sloan School of Business and MIT Media Lab Digital Currency Initiative, under the guidance of Gary Gensler and Michael Casey.
I’ve presented my work to the Association of Medical Directors of Information Systems (AMDIS), American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA), Symposium on Artificial Intelligence for Learning Health Systems (SAIL), ACM Conference on Fairness, Accountability, and Transparency (FAccT), ACM Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI), and more.
